Steve Jobs is going to unveil the highly secretive Iphone version 2 and many speculations are floating around the net about the new specifications of this "new" gizmo. 3G? Thinner? Cheaper? GPS?

Rumored to be $200 when its revealed. Totally budget. Totally hope to get it soon.

Working in a Start Up

Alright, this is totally overdue.

While everyone else secures their future as a highly productive office worker of the 21st Century in high flying companies, I took the opportunity from Darren (Zethis) to work in his web design start up as a business development personnel.

The pictures up there show the environment at my desk. A little messy, pencil and paper, laptop and desktop together, msn with my dearest behind Microsoft Word.

Paper is starting to stack on my desk, and they're not stuff that are printed black and white but more of scribblings on paper done by me. I do a lot of planning here, a range of different stuffs really and scribbling the ideas on paper is really the best way for me to get my thoughts in order. Having Word or Powerpoint open and planning right there and then just doesn't cut it.

So, what is this company I'm working at? If you haven't already done so, check out CartMomo. Yeah, its a startup web site with aims of allowing people to start their shops and sell their wares. And right at this point, the guys here are working on Campus Malls and aim to bring promotions from various brands to students of institutions in Singapore. Check out TP Campus Mall set up for Temasek Polytechnic students. It has a number of features that would excel over CartMomo and would eventually be port over to the main site.

Working at a start up is exciting. You don't get lots of prestige or lots of money. In fact, they live on funds. Every minute is crucial. Selling is a tough job for a brand without much recognition. Persistence is essential.

However, as a new comer, although I have my ideas of how to grow the business and company, Randy (Partner of the ownership of the company) has a different idea of the direction the company should take. So does Hanhaw, the 3rd personnel I worked with here at CartMomo.

In the mean time, my focus will be placed on the Campus Malls and making it work. Loads of planning, loads of presentations to do, loads of propositions and negotiations.

Time to work.

Yes. I have finally made the decision to quit WoW.

It has been almost a year now.

It has been fun tanking but Panzar'thar Breatplate would never drop for me.

It has been fun dps-ing but a warrior will always find it hard to find a place to dps.

It has been fun in KoL but too much WoW is getting tiring.

It has been fun playing late nights but real life truly forbids such life style.

It has been great times playing with all the friends I made in KoL.

Goodbye Zamea... like I fared Zreck goodbye once, I will now rest you for good.

Time to finish off my projects, study for my exams and spend time with my family!

For those of you who do not yet know about it, Photoshop now has a free online editor.

Photoshop Express

You can now edit photos from your Photobucket, Facebook and Picasa accounts, or you could upload 2gb worth of photos onto their server and begin editing from there. You can even host your gallery there and share your photos with others.

I played around with it and found it rather easy to use. Pretty intuitive features and perfect for people who want to spruce up their photos quickly.

Really cool. Go check it out.

3 reasons to wait for an iPhone

For my friends who are wondering if you should get an iPhone, here's my take.

Wait

1. iPhone is still a developing product.

Even now, Apple is still continually upgrading it. In such a short time, Apple has already announced iPhone Firmware 2.0, and there are rumors that Apple is looking for manufacturers for 3G versions of iPhone.

2. Later generation of Apple products are significantly better.

1st Gen iPod

4th Gen iPod

Apple 1st Gen products are slick, but 3rd Gen onwards they always become a so much more than what was. If you want what's hip in the future, wait for a later gen version of the iPhone.

3. Price.

Apple's products come out expensive. So do other tech products. It's just that trend. And the price drops pretty fast, so why spend a bomb on the 1st Gen iPhone when you could get your hands on the 4th Gen iPhone for 1/2 the price 1 year after the first Gen iPhone hits the stores?

My mic was pretty messed up with my WoW sound. May have caused weird sounds in the raid cause of feedback. Should have just said so earlier, I'll just turn off the sound. It's not easy to lead a raid and take note of all these shit especially when I can't hear what comes out of your speakers, I can only see what's happening on the screen and hear what's coming out of my mouth telling you all what's coming, what to kite and improvising on the ground so next time you're unhappy about the damn sound I'm producing, just say nicely and ask that I get a ear piece. After a long day, it's just a little fucked up to see nasty remarks.

Didn't realise the last post was finally my 400th post. But well, there will be no fanfare nor celebrations for this milestone achievement.

Recently, people keep telling me that I'm different, ranging from comments such as "WTF", "I can't believe my eyes", "You're resurrected!

No longer zombie!". Whatever it is, I am indeed kinda different I guess. Waking up for classes and actually listening and understanding. WTF, that's totally not me man.

I scored 6 on this day.

1 out of 2 on free throw attempts in the 3rd quarter.
2 out of 2 on free throw,
1 out of 2 on free throw and
2pts from a jump shot in the 4th quarter.

I was lucky actually, most of the free throws were not given due to shot attempt fouls.
I remember a few were actually because I scrambled and got the ball and the Raffles players decided to foul me, out of frustration I guess. But well, it works in my favor, because free throws are what I am good in. But yet, I missed 2 of the 6 given. I thought I would have gotten them all in. But it being my first official match, I shall forgive myself. Furthermore, I scored 6 and it seems that I was the guy with the highest points per minute in the match.

I personally did not expect myself to turn in so many shots on my first official match. I'm definitely pleased with the result, and I'm working harder than ever on basketball now. I know I can perform and I am indeed getting more confident on the ball. Was shooting for almost 2 hours in the MPSH. It was a good choice to get the hoop. Saves the travel just to shoot a few hoops. Probably would give me more practice time since I can do some shooting and some "jiao bu" practices at any time I would like to.

Working on my penetration and shooting at the moment. 1st goal is to make myself more of a threat on the court. Fast break and a strong defense will not be my only strengths.

Busy is an understatement.

With things coming at me back to back, and me trying to make sure that everything is done out as fast as possible with the highest quality I can achieve, I'm losing a lot of personal time here. I find myself falling asleep while talking to people online, not enjoying raiding in WoW, can't leave my laptop alone for an extended period of time. Been staring at the computer screen for up to over 10hours a day. That's totally hardcore.

I've still to finish my biz comm presentation, which i'm frantically adding pictures to now. Also, I'm trying to beautify the smb website. Then I have OM term paper coming out very soon after. Not to mention weeks before this, I had things coming up every 2 days or so. Shaggedelic.

My only concern is whether it'll just be like this all the way. I need some time for my own. Hope WoW doesn't become a chore as well.

IBM Young Entrepreneur

Been busy recently.

Presentation for IBM Young Entrepreneur Award was finally over. It was a 24hr ordeal that saw our group, the ProProtectors rushing through the prototypes of our Spin-the-wheel and Pick-a-prize, memorising our parts, working up the slides, suiting up and preparing to kick ass.

Judges felt that we had good ideas and they liked our presentation, pointing out that viral marketing could be a good way to go. They also commented on the use of sex appeal. Apparently, sex is a taboo when it comes to marketing for firms, especially MNCs. I wonder if the younger generation would actually be more open to this sort of marketing because I believe that the youth is actually more accepting of sex appeal and in fact, who can deny that it does really catch attention very well and people will remember it.

I guess sex appeal is really only ever used by fashion lines eh? Like Calvin Klein below. CK has always been known for the ads with all the wet, sexy bodies of almost naked male and female on top of each other.
Well, so be it, we might still use those ads if we get into the finals anyway.

Guess I'm on to the designing of SMB Website now, and also creating the powerpoint presentation for my Biz Comm presentation.

Back to back work, you got to love it when you have to squeeze your nuts just to find time for some WoW and your girlfriend. Good thing we stay in hall.

Mid terms have finally come to an end if I don't count projects, term papers and competitions that I have joined. There is a never ending stream of work to be done. Seems like a hectic month ahead. After the month, it'd be almost time to hit the books and plan a number of A's to bag into a trophy most NUS students know as "Result Slip".

A friend reminded me that NUS Biz has become really competitive and I should clinch an internship as early as possible. Seems like Biz Ad has turned almost into a Fight Club.(If you haven't seen the movie I suggest that you go see it. darn blardy good film) Anyway, I already understand that to find a good job, excellent results are not of the top priority but relations and a good internship could land you your ideal job.

Sometimes, I ponder upon the competitiveness within the BBA cohort and can't help but think about what it has brought to NUZ Biz Ad. Personally, if I do something, I want it presentable and when people see it, they know it's good. Yeah, I know I'm a pretty last minute person and all. But I still want to make it good. My point is, Biz Ad is now full of gimmicks. Instead of making a presentation slide pleasing to the eyes, ideas clearly shown and illustrated, keeping things simple and aesthetically pleasant. Instead of looking for excellence in what one is doing, we see all sorts of gimmicks being pulled off just to "impress" tutors and I salute those who still take pride in making things good and not just relying on the gift of the gab.

Gah... Studying is just not my cup of tea. Neither is staring at sheets of numbers. Accounting is a no-no for me whilst finance is pretty fun to deal with. But I'm not the type who would sit at a desk and work my ass off all day. I get easily distracted. I need to do something I like and make a living out of it. Do I really like finance? Definitely more than Accounting, but maybe not enough for me to look into the mirror after forcing my groggy head to prop up straight at 6am in the morning and tell myself "Hoh yeah, another day of Financial Investments to work out. That's gonna be so ass-spanking exciting."

Surgery today and I got to wakie wakie in 2hrs time. Sleep deprived again. My body clock is screwed. In fact, somehow had better plunge a huge screw right through my back bone and adjust my that damn clock back to where it should be. So many things to juggle and I've never even been able to juggle 3 balls in the air.

Alright, time to hit the sacks. Gonna dream about doing sit ups and running on tread mills so maybe when dreams come true, maybe only the results of the hard work you put in your dreams translate into real life and I would get those killer abs displayed by Brad Pittalina Jolie in the picture above. Hah, gotcha. Those aren't great abs, but at a certain Troy time of the century, he did have a magnificent to-die-for bod.

Gimmicks are just gimmicks. They don't work well in a real business situation.

That was some time ago. Before our 6th month even. Yeah, we've been together for 6months and counting. Feels longer. It always does. Always more to look forward to despite all the chaos of daily life trying to juggle school work, hall, friends, family and wow.

So I loaned 10bucks from Charmaine and made enough to return her the 10bucks and still play comfortably. We were at blackjack at that time, same old blackjack, better luck. No blackjacks for me though, no double winnings nor triple winnings, just consistent winnings was enough to take me through.
Then we started on Texas Hold'em Poker. Addictive shit. But that was where the dough started rolling in, when people put the max of the 50cents stake each time. Luck has it that I have lived with the fuf long enough to learn some bluffing skills, and also to bestow me with wonderful cards. We only stopped because some have lost their buffer money for gambling.

Was playing basketball yesterday evening.
Knew I had to stop when I almost tripped while chasing a loose ball as both my calves cramped.
Reminded me of what alison meant by "wo de jiao hen suan!"
It must have been either the weather, or the Heineken.

Note to self : No more drinking before sports. Else shoot yourself.

Went with Joshua to meet up with Alan at Holland V. Ended up at Brekos.
Had Cabonara for lunch. Not excellent. I'd advice against having that at Brekos.
Well, that was where I had Heineken too.

Note to self : Time to find a job and get yourself a damn camera, or at least a phone with a decent one.

So, it was KTV the next day, which happens to be today. Belting out our voices to the melodies of those ching chong cheena songs.

Went home after basketball training at Tanglin.
Good training, worked out a few plays to use on Monday.
Players not too familiar with the plays yet, but should get better in weeks.
Come on guys, don't anticipate! You're gonna kill yourselves.
The opponents aren't gonna run the plays that we're running,
I see you anticipating, I'll cut you and drive past you, it's that simple,
DO NOT ANTICIPATE. Use your body and legs and defend well.

Good effort though, fast swings, looking for the open shot, going in strong.
And as for me, it's a good place to work on my vision and gauge my individual improvement.

Energy's been pretty much sapped in the last few weeks with the IHG on going and studies mounting up into a marvelous pile of junk that you have no idea where to begin with. But I'm catching up, and if possible I should do it with Super Speed. Wish you had super hero powers sometimes don't you? I'd like to have Batman's abilities if I had the chance. It's almost as if he's reached the peak of mankind's powers. Rich, handsome, charming, black hair, nice cape, agile, strong, VERY intelligent. But he doesn't have his parents. So... I guess no one has a perfect life.

So I went home after training to rest my body, mind and soul. Slept early and woke up at 10am to watch the second half of NBA Cleveland Cavaliers vs Miami Heats. Dwayne Wade scored 41 points, making 23 free throws out of 24. Madness. Relaxing. And feels healthy to finally sleep early and wake up early.

Feeling good and ready to go. I wanna get some more bball in my hands right now. But before that, I better finish up my marketing webcasts. 3 webcasts to go. and Half of a programming webcast since I slept through the whole lecture on Thursday, waking up from time to time to try and understand what the lecturer is saying. OR was I waking up just because it isn't respectful to the lecturer? OR maybe it's because MingHui is beside me giving me back rubs. But well, webcasts take alot less time to finish than lectures. Just put it at 2.0 speed. That's half your time saved. The lecturers will speak gibberish at times though, just slow it down and work through it.

Like they always say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger,
Tough times make tough men and all that rubbish.
Friends, if you're going through a hard time right now,
just know that all you've got to do is stay strong,
stay strong and pull through the pain, ride through it, fight through it

Came back to hall and realised I have no idea where my matric card is. Good thing WeiJie was on his way to do his laundry. He opened the door for me and voila, back in Sheares Hall.

Ally wasn't in her room, tried looking for Shyuan, not there, tried looking for XiangYing... Nope... not there... but good thing I saw ally's slippers outside Serene's door. Lost Reversi to Ally, then played Big2. Goofing around till YuanBin replied Ally. Why? Cos my phone went out of batt. Swee.

Still couldn't find my card back at the FuFs, went back to Ally's but ended up in Alex's to watch Butterfly Effect.

Tried painting each other's nails, but Ally being the smartest being on Earth, dropped the nail polish and it broke. So we had an adventure cleaning up the mess and continue painting nails. My parents are gonna disown me. Woot.

And so, I slept my day away. Again.
Watched Grey's Anatomy till 5.30am, slept till 7am. Had breakfast, slept from 8am again and yada yada yada dream yada yada.

Finally woke up at 5pm to know I gotta drive the volleyball girls down to the SRC. And from then on, it was endless driving till 10pm.

The life of an SMB driver.

Maybe we're too nice. Maybe we're giving in to every request. We answer to everyone's transportation needs just because it's IHG and we do have a lorry. We bring you places fast. You ask for it, we do it. And most of the times, it's me and Joshua doing the driving. I'm not saying that the rest of them aren't driving. Just that we do most of it.

And sometimes, you do feel taken for granted. Especially when you're driving a whole team of players and no one wants to sit beside the driver.
Driving the lorry is lonely business.

And when the lorry has broken down, we try our best means to fix it. Yet some people call us and grief us why prior notice was not given that the lorry has broken down. Would I know that the lorry would break down?

Still, being taken for granted is the worse feeling.
When it seems like you're always the one taking the step,
when you're always the one making the extra effort,
when you're always the one going the extra mile,
it makes you want to walk away from it.

Yet, some things are just too important for you to just simply walk away from.
So you just take the next step, and a next, and a next
and hope that someday you'll find that you're no longer walking alone.

Thanks guys. It has been a wonderful 7 months. The best 7 months of basketball I've ever played in my life. And many more years of good basketball to come.
I remembered the things I said during my 2nd training in Sheares.
"I know I'm not too good a player, but I promise I'll learn and train hard and improve along with the team. Have patience with me."
I can proudly say that the team has improved over the months, and so have I. By leaps and bounds. Not enough, but it is a start. If I keep up with it, I know I can become a main stay player in Sheares too. Continue being part of the legacy.

Must thank Nicholas. He's been my biggest mentor over the last few months. He's showed that everyone in the team counts. He put in his heart to make every player feel like part of the team, teaching without qualms, without holding back, without prejudice. Thanks to Nicholas, I have improved.

Thank Adi and RongTzu for the patience to advice me and guide me over the months of training. My confidence with the ball is definitely building up. Thanks. RongTzu, I'll train double as hard. Good game today.

Finally I see my game play improving. Making my shots, getting my kills and winning the games.

Went down to Tanglin for a bout of basketball games today.
Was a good experience. Played 2 games. Won both. Scored more than 20 points out of the 58 total my teams scored.
Too individualistic? But I made quite a number of assists as well. Most of the points I scored are from fast breaks.
My defence improved as well. I can press the guards of the team confidently. Keep it up. Good hustles.
I need to continue improving my game. They may not be able to catch up with my driving, but that cannot be my only weapon.
Else I'd do no good for Sheares Hall Basketball Team. Time to get my shooting up so maybe I can be a new option. A new weapon in the arsenal of Sheares Hall players.

I love playing DOTA with my brothers. In the past 2+ weeks, I haven't lose a single game I played with them in the team.
Fluid team work. It's like we know what each other are gonna do, kills are just too simple. Helped me learn a lot about the game as well. Denies and last hits are going up as well. But not yet at my brothers' levels. 100+ kills by mid game. WTH??? that's almost twice of other usual players.

Of course gaming isn't the only thing I wanna improve. Studies and many other things. Really, I see things going up. And I'm only too glad at the moment. Everything seems bright. Looks like a really good year ahead of me. Really gotta learn to grab opportunities like this and accomplish more.

Everyone's done their recap and evaluation of Year 2006.

I would only love to look forward to 2007.

I've never felt more lost than in the past year.
I find myself tripping again and again,
having to pick myself up from the falls.
Sometimes on my own, other times I see my friends reaching their hands out for me, pulling me back up, giving me a good pat on my shoulder.

It was the end of my stint in the armed forces.
It was the start of my university life, my life in Sheares Hall.
It was the year I got my licence to drive.
It was the year I celebrated my birthday on a pretty big scale.

I know I'm picking myself up again, ready to take on Year 2007.
My focus is back. And it can only mean good.

This year, I'll still be me. A better version of me.

I almost couldn't remember what Jerry Maguire was about anymore.

But I would never forget this scene.
The "You... Complete me" and "You had me at hello" scene.

I think it's true. That other person is someone who makes you complete.
The one who fills your emptiness, who shares all your ups and downs.
When you're on top of the world, she'd be the first person you would think of, the first person you'd wanna share your joy with.
When you're at the pits, she'd be there for you, to share your woes.
But most importantly, she's the one you think of in the simplest of your daily life.

I just got reminded today that the pasta cooking yesterday night went well.

The chill wind blows against my face as if warning me.
"Step back," it says, "you will not survive this storm."
I stopped in my tracks, almost cowering at the ferocity of nature.

The rain has raged on since yesterday morning.
The second night has passed since
and it has only slightly shown it's intention to go.

I brought the hood of my cloak lightly over my drenched hair
then I braced myself, shrugging any weariness off my shoulders.
There was a certain coy about the empty streets I traveled upon.
It was as if the remnants of the past still lingered here.

I took a deep breath.

Again I look out into the starless night,
rain drops still falling like a curtain
waiting to consume any souls brave (or stupid) enough to traverse through it.

I will not lose my hopes to despondency, but,
Will there be sunshine after the rain for me?

It's been some time since I first did this. So how do I fare now that I'm staying in hall and a whole new bunch of stuff are happening?

Basically what you do is put your music library on shuffle and answer the questions with songs in the order they come up. it doesn't really make sense at times, but some answers you come up with will freak you out.

What do you type in an empty box?

The perpetual drops of rain that trickles down the unlit night?
It's so familiar, yet so different.

If I could I'd stay up all night just watching the rain.
It brought a bit of melodrama to the streets.
Dimming the street lamps, smearing the smell of sad thoughts into the night.
I saw a certain beauty in it. A beautiful pictorial like one you wouldn't capture any other place.

So what do I want? What do I do?
It's a wonder how small things like this could turn out to be a double-edged sword.
Weather the beating of the rain to continue relishing the beauty I see.
Or do I abdicate because there is no rainbow beyond the rain.

Guess I'll watch the rain.
